WorldRemit One of the UK’s fastest-growing technology businesses, WorldRemit is disrupting the $600bn global money transfer industry.

 

Backed by Accel Partners and Technology Crossover Ventures, two of the world’s leading technology investors and launching in 2010, WorldRemit is today a leading digital money transfer service. Revenues have grown from £15m in 2014, to £27m in 2015 and are annualising £42m for 2016. It is currently processing more than 760,000 transfers a month (as of August 2017). This is forecast to grow to 4m in the next several years in line with the World Bank’s forecasts for a predicted six-fold growth in the mobile money transfer industry.

 

Currently valued in excess of $500m, WorldRemit is one of Europe’s leading FinTech and has won many awards including the UN International Fund for Agricultural Development for Best Practice in Remittances for Development (2015), the UK’s fastest-growing technology company in Deloitte’s annual Fast 50 Award (2015) and sixth place in the Sunday Times ‘Tech Track’ (2016).

Alix Murphy, Director of Mobile Partnerships

 

A leading Mobile Money specialist, Alex helps build and support commercial relationships with telecoms operators all over the world. Before World Remit, Alix was at the GSMA, where she consulted mobile operators on revenue opportunities in Mobile Money and digital identity. She has on-the-ground expertise of the telecoms sector in regions as diverse as sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, North America, East Asia and South East Asia. In her early career, Alix spent several years in international development, including at the Grameen Foundation and Aga Khan Foundation.

 

 

Sureya Sathiamoorthi, Senior Big Data Engineer

 

A seasoned Data Engineer, Sureya ensures WorldRemit has enough meaningful information to make smart business decisions. Since joining WR in August 2016 he has been responsible for helping the team implement and optimise the data infrastructure for the whole company, a pivotal project to help WorldRemit transition from being reactive to proactive.
