Liz Rideal is an artist, writer and Reader in Fine Art at the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL, London. Rideal has exhibited widely in Europe and the USA, with artwork held in public collections including The British Museum, Museet for Fotokunst, Denmark; The Portland Art Museum, USA; Tate Gallery, Victoria & Albert Museum, Yale Centre for British Art, USA. Published works include, Mirror/Mirror: Self-portraits by Women Artists, National Portrait Gallery, London, and Watson-Guptill, New York, 2001; Insights: Self-portraits, NPG, London, 2005; and How to Read Painting, Bloomsbury, London, and Rizzoli, New York, 2014, and 2015.

Rideal was awarded a Leverhulme Fellowship 2016-7 for Splicing Time, a project looking at, replicating and inventing new images of ancient sites in Rome and the Roman Campagna, she will discuss the results of this project.
