Professional & Business Communications & BCALS present: Richard Keith

Abstract

Richard will discuss his role as a management consultant in the field of spoken and written communication and about how his MA has been useful to his work, and why studies in linguistics and communication are highly valuable across the economy.

Autobiography

I am a specialist management consultant in the field of spoken and written communication. I coach people to present, pitch & sell, helping them to build and then tell their story with more impact, clarity, memorability and persuasion. The key events I advise on include important speeches, presentations, bids, pitches, raising funds, IPOs, and trade sales. My firm, Grant Pearson Brown, were presentation advisers to London 2012 on their successful bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games, and on the London 2017 bid to host the World Athletics Championships.

I originally trained and worked as an actor and voice teacher before reading English at Cambridge University. After graduation, I joined a law firm working in Client Relations and Business Development. I studied for the MA in Intercultural Communication for Business and Professions at Birkbeck where my dissertation examined metaphor and frameworks of leadership in the political discourse of Alex Salmond.
