Abstract:
The new age of globalisation has ushered in an ever increasing worldwide international communication and trade enhanced by the reach and speed of ICT's (international communications technologies) using the Internet and the World Wide Web. This workshop explores the impact of the Web and globalisation on the use of language and culture internationally, identifies key intellectual approaches and trends in analysis and
offers perspectives on how these trends can influence language learning and attitudes to our own and other cultures we deal with.

Biography:
Barry Tomalin is an expert in International Communication and Cultures and Module Leader in 'Information Management and Governance' and 'Cultural Projection and Perception' at the Academy of Diplomacy and International Governance, Loughborough University London. He also works as an international consultant, advising corporations on the cultural and communication implications of entering new business markets. He is the author of 'World Business Cultures - a Handbook' (2014) Thorogood Publishing, 'Cross-Cultural Communication: Theory and Practice', (2013) Palgrave and Managing Editor of the academic journal 'Training Language and Culture', co-produced with RUDN (People's Friendship University of Russia) and published by ICC - Europe's Language Association.
