Join us for the final Big Ideas at City & Islington College's Centre for Lifelong Learning, and come prepared for interesting discussion and fascinating research!

Birkbeck's Big Ideas is a series of thought-provoking free public lectures, designed to inspire and bring world class Birkbeck academics to the local community, with this latest installment from Dr Iroise Dumontheil, of the Department of Psychological Sciences.

In the last couple of decades, neuroimaging methods have enabled us to explore how the brain changes during the teenage years (adolescence) and relate these changes to the risk-taking, sensitivity to peer influence, self-regulation difficulties and emergence of mental health disorders that can be observed during this time of life.

During this session Dr Dumontheil will introduce the methods used to study the adolescent brain and adolescent behaviour, present recent findings, and discuss the promise of interventions emerging from this research. There will also be an extensive Q&A session to cover topics the audience may be particularly interested in.

The event is FREE and open to all, but please note that seating is allocated on a first come first served basis. Registration and refreshments start at 6pm and the talk will commence at 6.15pm.
