After his landmark book André Gide: Homosexual Moralist (Yale UP 1991) Patrick published an edition with preface and French glossary of John Stirling’s Figures of Speech: (A System of Rhetoric) (1996), a critical edition of Gide’s Le Roi Candaule (2000), a Répertoire des lectures d’André Gide (I: l’Antiquité classique (2000), II: Littérature et culture de langue anglaise (2004), III Divers: l’Orient, la Scandinavie, l’Italie, l’Ibérie et l’Amérique du sud, la Grèce moderne (2006), IV Culture et littérature d’expression allemande (2010).

He was Editor of (and contributor to) the London Emile Zola Centenary Colloquium (1995), Gide et l'Angleterre (Colloquium proceedings 1986), and, with Professor Valerie Minogue, Visages de la Provence (Zola et Cézanne) (Aix Colloquium proceedings 2008).

He has contributed to the Encyclopedia of Erotic Literature (ed. G.Brulotte and J.Phillips, 2006), and the Dictionnaire Gide (ed.P.Masson and J.-M.Wittmann, 2011). He was co-author and language consultant for two series of English-language textbooks for French students (Open Access 1986-89, 1991).

He has contributed reviews to: Times Literary Supplement, Modern Language Review, French Studies, Inverses (Rouen).

He has been a member of the Association des Amis d’André Gide since its inception, and is currently Honorary Treasurer of the Emile Zola Society, London.
