Conference organization

  • 2010 at Birkbeck College, London, at two-day conference on ‘Gender and Memory in European Literature, Film and Visual Art’ (with Silke Arnold-de Simine, funded by the School of Arts and the Association of Modern German Studies)
  • 2008 at Bangor University, a two-day conference on ‘Word, image and sound: intermediality in  German cultural discourse’ (with Carol Tully, Bangor University, part-funded by the Association of Modern German Studies).
  • 2007 at the Goethe-Institute, London, a two-day on ‘Migrant experiences in post-unification Germany’ (with Klaus-Dieter Rossade, Open University, part-funded by the Association of Modern German Studies).
  • 2005 at the Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies, a two-day conference on ‘Twentieth Century Romantics. A Century of Reception Re-assesed’ (with Carol Tully, Bangor University).
  • 2005 at the LSE, at two-day conference on ‘Film since the “Wende”’ (with Martin Brady, KCL, part-funded by the Association of Modern German Studies).

Editorship of journals

Since 2010 I have been a member of the editorial board of the peer-reviewed on-line journal German as a Foreign Language.
