Research fellowships for Birkbeck lecturers

Lecturers from both French and German areas of the Department of European Cultures and Languages have received AHRC Fellowships.

Silke Arnold-de Simine’s research spans 19th/20th century German literature and film, theories of cultural memory, the museum, historicity of media and gender studies. The AHRC award will be used for work on her monograph Mediating Memory in the Museum: Empathy, Trauma, Nostalgia (Palgrave Macmillan).

Andrew Asibong’s research interests lie in French film, writing and critical theory. His award will be used to complete his monograph on Marie NDiaye: Blankness and Recognition (Liverpool: Liverpool University Press).

Arnold-de Simine teaches on the MA Museum Cultures and is Programme Director for the MA Modern Languages (German Studies). Asibong is Programme Director for both MA Modern Languages (French) and MA Aesthetics of Kinship and Community.
