The Rural Evidence Research Centre (RERC) was established by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) to provide innovative, multi-disciplinary, research to support the social and economic regeneration of rural England.
The Director of the RERC is Professor John Shepherd of the School of Geography at Birkbeck, University of London. Including associates there are 21 contributing research members of the RERC.
