WIP Conference
Call for papers

We invite proposals for 15-20 minute papers from Mphil/PhD students in the Department of English and Humanities on any aspect of your thesis research.

Work in Progress is an annual internal conference for students in the English department to provide them with a friendly environment to present their ongoing research. There are no restrictions on the topic you may submit, but please be aware that we will be maintaining strict time limits for all of the papers given during the conference, so you should select your topic accordingly; don't try to present your entire thesis! Instead, you might present a section of one of your chapters, or you may wish to use this conference as an opportunity to explore a new area for future research.

Please submit a 250 word proposal, including your full name and contact details, the title of the paper, and any AV requests (i.e. PowerPoint, DVD player, etc.) to the conference organisers at:

by Friday, December 16, 2011. Please attach your application to your email as a Word document. We will write to you by email during or immediately following the winter holiday to let you know whether your application has been successful. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about the application procedure.

You might find it helpful to have a look at the abstracts for last year's conference, which are included on this website, to get an idea of the kind of thing we expect.
