Sally Hinchcliff

MA Creative Writing

Sally Hinchcliffe was born in London in 1969 and was one of the first students to take the Birkbeck MA in Creative Writing.

During the course she was on the team that set up the Mechanics' Institute Review, and helped edit its inaugural edition. Since leaving Birkbeck, she has had a number of short stories published including:

  • 'Gerald Says', which was broadcast on Radio 4
  • 'Witching Hour', published in the first Tales of the Decongested Anthology
  • 'In Heaven There is No Beer', runner-up in the 2005 Asham Award competition and published in their anthology, Don't Know a Good Thing.

Her first novel, Out of a Clear Sky, was published by Pan Macmillan in May 2008.
