Isabel Davis

BA, MA, PhD (York)
Reader in Medieval Literature and Culture

I have worked extensively on the literature and culture of the late Middle Ages, and recently work my has taken a turn into the field of medical humanities. I am currently working on a  history of what I am calling 'un-pregnancy' or the 'am-I-aren't-I time': a zone of ambiguity in relation to pregnancy diagnosis. Since 2015 I have been working collaboratively with visual artist Anna Burel. In 2017 we held a well-received exhibition of this work: Conceiving Histories, at the Peltz Gallery in London.

I teach on the BA English, MA Medieval Literature and Culture, MA Renaissance Studies and MA Medical Humanities, and I supervise students doing doctoral work on late medieval, medical humanities and gender topics.
