Major new drama series written by Colin Teevan

A drama series written by Birkbeck lecturer Colin Teevan has won substantial funding to be televised in Ireland.

Citizen Charlie is a three part drama series telling the story of Charles J Haughey, who served three terms of office as Taoiseach of Ireland between 1979 to 1992. Teevan uses the charismatic figure of Haughey to chart the emergence of modern Ireland.

Element Pictures has been offered €1m from the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland’s Sound and Vision Scheme to produce the series and filming is due to start in 2013.

Colin teaches playwriting on the BA Creative Writing and MA Creative Writing programmes.
