Diploma and Certificate of Higher Education in Mathematics

Programme Director: Andrew Bowler

If you want to study mathematics at university level, but do not perhaps wish to study a full four-year BSc programme, then the Certificate or Diploma of Higher Education in Mathematics could be right for you. These programmes are designed for students with an A-level or equivalent in mathematics and are an ideal way of expanding your knowledge of mathematics and finding out more about the areas that interest you.

The programmes are designed to be as flexible as possible; in the final year of each programme you will have a choice of modules taken from the BSc Mathematics programme. You will meet with the programme director before the start of the academic year and decide on a suitable programme of study based on your interests and experience.

Students successfully completing the Certificate (Cert HE Maths) will be able to proceed straight onto Year 2 of our BSc Mathematics, or BSc Mathematics and Statistics programmes. Students gaining the Diploma (Dip HE Maths) will be able to proceed into Year 3 of these programmes.
