The Maintenance Section is responsible for ensuring that all buildings either owned or leased by the college are properly maintained and structurally safe. Our aim is to ensure that all building and mechanical services are installed correctly and function in a safe, efficient and reliable manner.
Our work teams have highly trained and skilled craftspersons who strive at all times to work in a friendly, effective and efficient manner, as well as continually seeking to improve our service delivery. We provide Mechanical (plumbing, heating etc), Carpentry (including key cutting) and Electrical services and are supported by a number of specialist maintenance contractors as required, who are also vetted on a regular basis in terms of performance and service delivery.
Throughout the Section a high priority is given to meeting health and safety and legislative requirements with high standards of customer delivery.
Planned preventative maintenance involves regular checks to ensure the safe function of important building and mechanical items. For example, all fire doors are checked regularly to ensure safe access to and egress from buildings. Water systems, boilers and plant are inspected and monitored regularly to ensure they are properly maintained.
Any request for works to be undertaken or emergency
breakdown calls should be made to the Estates HelpDesk tel. ext. 2001. A 24-hour emergency call out system
is in operation via security during out of hour periods.
