Bracebridge Hemyng (1841-1901)
Bracebridge Hemyng practised as a barrister and, after researching the prostitution section of Henry Mayhew’s London Labour and the London Poor, went on to become the author of numerous popular suspense novels with titles such as The Women of London, and In the Force: or, Revelations by a Private Policeman.
