Student support
We offer a wide range of student support to help you while you're studying with us:
- Personal tutors: each student will be allocated a personal tutor from among the academic staff. The personal tutor’s role is largely pastoral, but also involves helping you with course choices, the design of your degree and any general issues regarding your course.
- Accommodation services
- Birkbeck Library is situated in the main building in Malet Street and is open seven days a week during term time. As a student at Birkbeck, you will also have reference access to most of the other college and institute libraries of the University of London. Membership of the University of London Library is also available to you at an additional charge.
- Career services
- Computing and IT services: a full range of modern computing facilities is available to support you in your academic work.

- Nursery: there is an evening nursery run by well-qualified and experienced staff.
- The Students’ Union provides a comprehensive range of services which include:
- counselling and advices
- student bar and shop
- free study skills sessions
- NUS cards for discounts on goods, travel, cinemas, theatres etc
- access to the University of London Union (ULU) facilities – bars, retail outlets,
- swimming pool (next door to Birkbeck)
