Application procedure
In addition to submitting a formal application through Registry, you need to attach to the application a research proposal. This proposal should include historical background on your topic, a rationale for the research, proposed methodologies, and a preliminary bibliography. On average this should be about 2,000 words.
You should also browse through the Department's staff pages to see if there are at least two academic staff members whose research could support your area of interest. You should indicate in your application who you might be interested in working with.
Once your application has been reviewed by Registry, it is passed onto the Director of Graduate Studies for Media and Cultural Studies, Dr Tim Markham , who will then liaise with the appropriate academic staff to review the merits of the proposal and see if we have the expertise to support your research. Once those criteria are met, you would be invited in for an interview
