Noriko Yamasaki

Noriko Yamasaki has been a sessional lecturer in Japanese language at Birkbeck since the very beginning of the College’s Japanese language courses in 2001. As member of the Birkbeck-Alpha team, she participated in developing the curricula for the Japanese courses and has been teaching all levels (beginners to advanced).

Between 2000–2008, she worked for the Alpha Japanese Language Institute, London, teaching Japanese to different student target groups and organising the teacher training course in Japanese as a foreign language. She has also taught Japanese and Japanese culture at the Ashlyns School, Berkhamsted as well as Business Japanese to staff at Cable & Wireless in London.

Noriko Yamasaki holds a BA in Intercultural Studies with a specialization in African culture from Kurume University (Fukuoka, Japan) and the Japanese Ministry of Education (MEXT) accredited License for Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language. She has been living and working in London since 2000.
