Special screening - Tokyo Story
As part of its study of modern Japanese culture, our undergraduate programmes in Japanese (Certificate of Higher Education Japanese, BA Languages and Linguistics, and BA Japanese and Film/Media), will explore the 1953 film Tokyo Monogatari (Tokyo Story).
Japanese film expert Kanako Terasawa from Birkbeck will lead this class, which will consider how Japan’s modern postwar family and the role of women are represented in this classic Japanese film, directed by by the renowned Ozu Yasujiro.
