Professor Tom Cox CBE

Tom Cox's professional and research interests focus on to related areas: (1) psychosocial and organisational risk management and health and safety management and (2) psychosocial and work-related issues in cancer survivorship. In addition to his position at Birkbeck, he holds an Honorary Chair in Psychosocial Oncology at the University of Aberdeen where he is involved in developing the METIS Collaboration which is part of the Academic Urology Unit, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. The Centre is a key member of that collaboration.

Tom is a chartered psychologist and a Full Member of the Divisions of Occupational and of Health Psychology of the British Psychological Society. He is currently Chair of its Partnership & Accreditation Committee and of its Membership & Standards Board. He is a Fellow of that Society and of the Royal Society of Public Health. He was awarded his CBE in 2000 for services to occupational health and has also been awarded Honorary Fellowships of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, and of the Institute of Ergonomics & Human Factors. He is also an Academician of the Academy of the Social Sciences and a Member of its Audit & Risk Committee.
