Karen Mac Cormack and Steve McCaffery Poetry Reading

News of a poetry reading by Karen Mac Cormack and Steve McCaffery. This will take place from 7:15pm-9:00 pm on Monday 18th June in Room 106 at 43 Gordon Square; both poets will read followed by a short discussion and drinks.

Karen Mac Cormack is the author of more than a dozen books of poetry, most recently RECHELESSE PRATTICQUE (Chax Press, Tucson/Victoria, 2018). Other titles include AGAINST WHITE(Veer Books, London, 2013), TALE LIGHT: New & Selected Poems1984–2009 (BookThug, Toronto, 2010) and Implexures(Chax Press, Tucson/West House Books, Sheffield).Her poems have appeared in a number of anthologies including Moving Borders, Out of Everywhere, Another Language, and Prismatic Publics.
Her texts have been translated into French, Portuguese, Swedish and Norwegian. An extended interview with her appears in Scott Thurston’s Talking Poetics (Shearsman, 2011). Of dual UK/Canadian citizenship she currently lives in the USA and teaches at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Karen will have copies of RECHELESSE PRATTICQUE for sale at the event.

Steve McCaffery is the author of more than 40 books of poetry and criticism. Among these are “ ‘Tatterdemalion’ (Veer Books, 2014); ‘Alice in Plunderland’ (Book Thug, 2015), and ‘Revanches’, a
collection of visual and concrete poetry (Xexoxial, 2015).His transatlantic collaborations include ‘Paradigm of the Tinctures’ with Alan Halsey (Granary Books, 2007) and ‘Twitters for a Lark, with
Robert Sheppard (Shearsman) 2017. English born and a long-time resident of Toronto, he was a co-founder of the Toronto Research Group (TRG), the sound poetry ensemble Four Horsemen, and the College of Canadian Pataphysics. Since 2004 he has been the David Gray Professor of Poetry and Letters at the University at Buffalo. He is launching a new publication, ‘Certain Words’ (Ground Press) 2018, in Glasgow on 14th June and will have copies of this on hand at Birkbeck also.
