Becka Hudson is a doctoral researcher and associate lecturer in Criminology at Birkbeck Law School. Her research focuses on the prevalence of ‘personality disorder’ (PD) diagnoses in English and Welsh prisons. She researches how institutions assign and manage people with a PD diagnosis, and how this management has changed with political-economic transformations in society, with particular reference to the history of prison building and psychiatric practice in the British Empire.
