Episode 1

Episode 1: Neither fish nor foul
Anne Douglas on her PhD ‘
Structure and improvisation : the making aspect of sculpture‘ completed in 1992 from Sunderland Polytechnic.

Anne Douglas is an artist researcher exploring the changing nature of art in public life through a programme of work, On the Edge research that has evolved over two decades. This research has developed in collaboration between artists, academics and organisations through two interrelated strands of work. The first focuses on experimental approaches to practice led research through the arts at doctoral and postdoctoral levels, predominantly supported through research council and related funding, including a number of Connected Communities awards. The second involves arts projects and interventions in public life framed by research questions.  Douglas publishes increasingly in the field of art and ecology and is currently also exploring the relevance of drawing as a contemporary art practice.
