Clive Birch

Clive Birch joined the Birkbeck audit committee as an external co-opted member in November 2013. He retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers in the summer 2010 having completed 32 years with the firm. His career with PWC started in London in 1978 having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in December 1977. After 3 years in London he was seconded to their Vancouver office in 1981, and on returning to London in 1983 he joined the team setting up the new Cambridge office and moved there in 1984. he was made a partner in 1988 and became partner in charge of Cambridge in 1995. He specialised in technology and biotech helping guide many companies to the public markets. His role as client handler not only involved audit but also assisting those companies deal with the rigors of setting up and developing processes, dealing with outside stakeholders and corporate governance.

Clive recently stepped down as a school governor having served 12 years in the role and is currently a non executive director of Cambridge Innovation Capital a venture fund backed by Cambridge University. He acts as an advisor to a number of enterprises set up by Addenbrooke's hospital and also sat on the appeals committee of the new maternity hospital
