The College is launching an Operational Excellence initiative to improve and streamline processes, using our skills of analysis and, where appropriate, technology.
Operational Excellence is linked to - and builds on – some of the key Next Steps projects already in train which combine improvement of student facing processes including enquiries, application, enrolment, admission and participation in learning and teaching with IT developments moving towards online processing and information management.
The aim of Operational Excellence is to develop and sustain the College’s capacity to deliver optimal support services to students and to staff. This will involve examining and reviewing our processes and activities, to ensure that they are the best that they can be now and that we create an environment of continuous improvement in which processes will enhanced in the future.
The key themes are speed; quality; reduced complexity, duplication and errors; and a focus on the perspective of the customer or user of the process. The project will involve technology and systems development introducing online workflow management. It will also require all those involved to adopt a much more structured approach to carrying out processes, achieving a step change in the way we approach support services.
