Entrepreneurship at Birkbeck

CIMR faculty are experts in Entrepreneurship and innovation. Drawing on our expertise, Birkbeck offers a range of entrepreneurship courses to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students, both as curricular and extra-curricular activities.

We support our students to start and grow their own businesses and to have an overall understanding of entrepreneurship. Whether you are, or want to be, a start-up entrepreneur, corporate or academic entrepreneur/intrapreneur, or public or citizen entrepreneur/intrepreneur, Birkbeck is the place to make your entrepreneurial journey a success.

A range of modules and programmes provide relevant knowledge, skills, mentoring and guidance on developing a business plan to establish a new venture, consolidate new teams and pitch your business to ‘dragons’. You will be coached on how to gather and analyse relevant information from potential customers, and about competitors, suppliers, investors, micro and macro environments. This helps minimise the risk of business failure.

Courses and programmes are:

  • Entrepreneurial Venture Creation (PG)
  • The Entrepreneurship Process (PG)
  • Business Project (UG)
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) – with Central Saint Martins
  • MSc BioBusiness – joint programme with School of Science

We help you understand how to become entrepreneurial in a wide array of settings, including venture formation and introducing innovation in corporates, universities, intermediaries, communities and policy formation.

Modules offered are:

  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation (PG)
  • Entrepreneurial Finance (PG)
  • Entrepreneurship and Small Business (UG)

If you are starting a business, or have an idea you’d like to get off the ground, we have plenty of support available. The range of events and activities are available for all students at all levels of study.

We also help you develop entrepreneurial skills, enhancing your employability opportunities and advancing your career.
