Speakers’ bios

Elvira Uyarra is Reader in Innovation Policy and Strategy at Alliance Manchester Business School (University of Manchester) where she is also director of the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research. She is also Adjunct Professor at the Mohn Center of Innovation and Regional Development at the University of Western Norway. Elvira’s research activities center on: regional science and innovation policy; spatial dimensions of knowledge and innovation; evolutionary approaches to public policy, universities and regional development, and the innovation impact of public procurement. Elvira is a Fellow of the Regional Studies Association and Chair of the North West if England branch of the RSA

Dr Andrew Atter is the Founder of Pivomo, an e-learning platform and psychometric publishing firm focused on entrepreneurship; and also Managing Partner of Executive Dialogue, a global firm of Executive Coaches and Board Mentors. After a corporate career with GKN, ICI and Heinz, Dr Atter led the HayGroup reward consulting team across Asia, focusing on board-level consultancy. In 2000, he served on the board of New World Group’s Hong Kong-listed technology subsidiary. Since 2001, Dr Atter has been coaching corporate and start up boards worldwide, often employed by angel investors and private equity. From 2012-14, Dr Atter was Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Birkbeck. In 2016, Dr Atter was awarded his doctorate by the Institute of Work-based Learning at Middlesex University.
