New project: Mobilising the value of biocultural collections in Brazil

Funded by the Newton Fund - British Council led by the Instituto de Pesquisas Jardim Botânico do Rio de Janeiro (JBRJ), in partnership with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, Birkbeck, University of London, the Instituto Socioambiental (ISA), the Federação das Organizações Indígenas do Rio Negro (FOIRN) and the Museu Paraense Emilio Goeldi (MPEG).

International Conference: Border Subjects / Global Hispanisms

This conference brings together scholars, curators, filmmakers, writers and post-graduate students from Latin America and the Caribbean, the United States, Europe and the UK to explore the emergence, nature and redefinitions of Border Subjects in the globalized Hispanic world from the Early Modern period to our current situation.

Alternating films from Portugal and Spain, this series will look at how cinema in the last ten years responded to the economic crisis of 2007 with accounts and evaluations of society’s ability to confront austerity and to reinvent life and polítics in challenging times.
