Marcus Wood is Professor of English at the University of Sussex. His research interests include the representation of slavery, satire in the romantic period, and colonial and post-colonial literature and theory. Among his numerous publications are Blind Memory: Visual Representations of Slavery in England and America, 1780-1865 (2000), High Tar Babies (2001), and Slavery, Empathy and Pornography (2002).
