On 23 January, Ron Smith, Professor of Applied Economics in the Department of Economic, Mathematics and Statistics, gave evidence to the Scottish Affairs Committee of the House of Commons, which has been examining the defence policy for an independent Scotland as part of its enquiry into The Referendum on Separation for Scotland.
