Celebratory mentoring event

We are delighted to report the success of the first Business Mentoring at Birkbeck programme

We are delighted to report the success of the first Business Mentoring at Birkbeck programme and a celebratory event took place on Thursday, 19th September. The programme is a partnership between Birkbeck, Credit Suisse and ELBA (East London Business Alliance).

Over the last six months, 20 pairs of mentors, comprising Birkbeck Alumni and managers from Credit Suisse have mentored final year undergraduate students and post graduate students in the School of Business, Economics and Informatics.

Many thanks to all the mentors for their time and expertise and to Credit Suisse for hosting the event... A room with a view doesn’t even start to capture the venue!

Rose Devaney, Business Engagement Manager at Birkbeck said:

“Many of the students taking part in the programme have aspirations to work in the corporate world but wanted the opportunity to network and learn from individuals already employed in these environments. Others simply wanted to benefit from working professionals who could offer some guidance about CVs and interview skills. The most common feedback from our students was that the experience increased their confidence and made them clearer about their options going forward”.

We are starting a new programme this month but we are constantly looking for entrepreneurs and experienced professionals who could spend an hour or two a month to support one of our students. For more information, please contact r.devaney@bbk.ac.uk
