Research with Impact

The Research Excellence Framework (REF) is a system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions. The results of the 2014 REF were published on 18 December 2014. The case studies which were used to tell the story of our research can be viewed on our dedicated webpages, and filtered by ‘Research Subject Area’.

We are keen to hear from you if you have potential projects where either our students or academics could collaborate with appropriate research.

Please contact Rose Devaney to discuss further.

Collaborative Research with Impact

Birkbeck is one of the world’s leading research-intensive institutions. Our cutting-edge scholarship informs public policy, achieves scientific advances, supports the economy, promotes culture and the arts, and makes a positive difference to society.

Birkbeck’s research excellence was confirmed in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, which placed Birkbeck 30th in the UK for research, with 73% of our research rated world-leading or internationally excellent.

Four of the case studies provided by the School of Business, Economics and Informatics have been summarised and encompass a flavour of our work in Management, Economics and Computer Science.
