Welcome to Birkbeck's School of Business, Economics and Informatics
The School of Business, Economics and Informatics is located at the heart of the College in the main building in Malet Street and in the Clore Management Centre just across the square.
Our purpose-built facilities, coupled with those of the College, provide spaces in which to explore management, economics, technologies and people in a supportive, stimulating environment.
The School’s research outputs place it among the best in the UK. We collaborate with many academic, private and public organisations internationally, and members of the School are deeply involved in the management of our specialisms. Much of our research is funded by the UK research councils and other public, private and third sector organisations.
The recent financial turmoil has demonstrated how global, inter-connected and pervasive the world of business is. It has also demonstrated that the solutions need to be innovative, rapid and varied. There has probably never been a more difficult time to be managing an organisation, nor a time in which people’s skills need to be updated more.
Birkbeck mirrors the need for flexible, inter-disciplinary free thinkers in its programming provision. The depth and breadth of the School’s teaching and research means that students at whatever level of study meet staff who are experts in their fields and have colleagues on their courses who bring diverse and stimulating practical experience to their academic studies. This provision is coupled with very flexible programme delivery offering part-time, full-time, accelerated, work-based and blending learning options to suit the needs of all types of students.
The School also offers short bespoke programmes that meet the training needs of organisations of all types.
If you are looking to enhance your career, to investigate the options for a career change, wish to return to employment, or are simply interested in exploring the intellectual depths of your chosen domain, then the School of Business, Economics and Informatics offers a great environment in which to work.
