Why Birkbeck?

As a leading provider of evening education, Birkbeck is ideally placed to offer the flexible, part-time study required as part of apprenticeships programmes while enabling employees to work full-time.

Flexibility is at the heart of Birkbeck’s approach, and the College is a supportive community enabling students to thrive while juggling a career and other commitments alongside their studies. We have a variety of services enable our students to achieve their potential.

Birkbeck is recognised as one of the world’s leading universities for excellence in research and teaching. The Times Higher Education World University rankings 2015-16 placed Birkbeck among the world’s top 250 universities, while the 2014 Research Excellence Framework saw Birkbeck placed 30th in the UK for research, with 73% of our research rated ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.

Outside of teaching and research, Birkbeck offers a comprehensive package of employability and entrepreneurship skills training for students. Over many years, the College has established strong relationships with employers. We have recently worked closely with JP Morgan to deliver our Work Readiness Programme and with Credit Suisse to deliver a mentoring programme for Birkbeck students.
