Elaine Glaser

Eliane Glaser is Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University, an Associate Research Fellow at Birkbeck, a Visiting Fellow at St Catherine’s College, Oxford (2017) and a BBC radio producer.

She is also a writer of non-fiction and journalism. Her book, Get Real: How to See Through the Hype, Spin and Lies of Modern Life (2012), is about how ideology works in contemporary politics, culture and media. It explores how political and financial elites legitimise themselves by co-opting authenticity, people-power, grassroots localism and progressive ideals.

She is author of, Judaism Without Jews: Philosemitism and Christian Polemic in Early Modern England, and her forthcoming book, entitled Anti-Politics: On the Demonization of Ideology, Authority and the State, will be published in Spring 2018.

She also writes comment pieces and reviews for a number of publications, including The Guardian, The Independent, The New Statesman and The London Review of Books. Eliane is associated with a number of think tanks: she is a Compass Associate and is on the editorial board of the journal, Soundings.
