Structure of Certificate, Diploma and BSc programmes
If you are not in position to commit to a four-year programme, or if you simply are not aiming for a full BSc, you can opt for:
- a Certificate of Continuing Education (one year)
- a Certificate of Higher Education (two years)
- a Diploma (three years)
These awards also serve as stopping off points for anyone who starts a BSc, but for whatever reason is unable to complete it.

If you already have a BSc, and want to top up your knowledge by taking some advanced modules, you could opt for a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma. (Note: Graduate Certificates and Diplomas take their modules from the final two years of a BSc programme, but these are postgraduate awards.) |
Certificates of Continuing Education (CCE) and Certificates of Higher Education (CertHE) take their modules from the first 2 years of a BSc programme. |
