Biographical details

I'm an expat American, but a long-time permanent UK resident.

I joined the faculty at Birkbeck in October 1994, having spent the previous three years as a post-doc at the Sussex Centre for Neuroscience at the University of Sussex. Prior to this, I spent a year and a half as a post-doc in the Biology Department at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Fans of American college basketball should know that despite my rather schizophrenic Duke-UNC lineage, I have never wavered as a Duke hoops supporter--Go Devils!
