Waking up to Structural Biology
In his inaugural lecture, Professor Nicholas Keep will present an overview of his research in structural biology and the techniques used.
His recent research has been concentrating on Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria that causes TB. Around one-third of the world's population are infected with dormant TB which sits silently in the lungs.
Professor Keep's research group have been studying how the bacteria survives for decades in this state and the proteins that are involved in the reawakening from dormancy. He will touch on his other interests in muscular dystrophy and insect's acute sense of smell.
