Welcome to the Birkbeck Graduate School events page

The Graduate Research School regularly organises events which are primarily social events but which provide opportunities to discuss the issues of the day and your research with your colleagues.

The next College wide event will be a roundtable discussion on Research Ethics between a number of Research Ethics officers from departments across the College. We will discuss what research ethics are, when you should be mindful of them, how to get ethical approval, and unexpected ways in which ethics may come into play in your research. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions from the audience, so come prepared!

This event will take place on Tuesday 28 February at 6pm in room G04, 43 Gordon Square and is open to all current research students. To book a place, please visit the BGRS Workshop Calendar.

Three Minute Thesis Competition is Coming to Birkbeck!

Birkbeck is hosting a 3 minute thesis competition. This event is popular with PhD students around the world. The challenge is to explain your thesis to a non-specialist audience, in only 3 minutes. The winner of the competition will recieve a cash prize. This is an excellent opportunity to learn how to communicate your research.

The competition itself will be on 31 March at 6pm. We are running a training session with presenter/comedian Dr Steve Cross on 13 March - get your free ticket for the training here.
