Event description

We're delighted to kick off our 2017/18 UpSkill: Tech programme with Larry Kotch, Co-founder of Brainbroker - A new kind of digital agency combining an entirely freelance workforce with a traditional agency shop front.

Larry is a regular on the Start-up scene often promoting the 'Virtual Enterprise' business model, the 'Gig Economy', Start-up building, Start-up sales, LEAN methodology and Seed/VC financing.

In this Event Larry will discuss:

  • Emerging trends shaping the future of traditional service businesses:

Law firms, Accountancies, Consultancies, Agencies and other professional services firms are all under pressure to adapt to a competitive landscape utterly dominated by exponential technological change and the 'gig economy'.

The traditional model of the firm is being challenged by freelancer platforms and SAAS tools which allow their would-be clients to serve themselves directly to the skills and services, circumventing the need to pay for the margin of the traditional enterprise.

  • How businesses in this sector must and will adapt to these trends:

The solution espoused is the 'Virtual Enterprise' - a model of the firm that his company Brainbroker is already deploying. He will discuss the benefits of this model, which leverages these two forces against each-other and preserves the concept of the professional services firm while radically altering it's remit.

  • Plus examples in each major professional services sector, as well as some alternative models of the firm such as the Holocracy
