Art and Experience in the late-medieval English parish church: selected evidence from rural Oxfordshire.

As a social as well as a spiritual hub serving a mixed community, the parish church offers a glimpse of medieval consciousness. This project looks at the role of imagery encountered in this highly charged space in constructing social identities, especially those of women and the less well off whose lives are largely unrecorded.
