‘and he had such beautiful eyes' The cultural discourse of the blinded British soldier of the First World War, 1915 - 1939.

I am researching cultural perceptions of the Blinded British Soldier of World War One. This is a neglected subject in disability history and focuses on the key questions, how is the blinded ex-soldier depicted in art and literature in the period 1915 – 1939 and how did this impact on their lives then and our perceptions of blindness today?
