Lobster Tales: Biography of a Dress.

The Lobster Dress was designed by Elsa Schiaparelli in collaboration with Salvador Dali in 1937; a version of the dress still survives today in the archives of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This thesis explores the long life of the Lobster Dress from the perspective of (object) biography in order to think through a number of critical issues in how we (as historians, museum-goers and consumers) engage with such fashionable objects.
