Brian Desmond Hurst (1895-1986): The Belfast Bohemian of British Cinema.

This director-focused study explores the thirty or so films directed by Hurst between the 1930s and early 1960s whose eclectic oeuvre has been dismissively marginalised within British and Irish cinema studies. Organised through the themes of class, nationality and sexuality, the thesis explores Hurst’s creative exile in mid-century British cinema. Lance may be contacted via: www.lancepettitt.com
