Volunteer and interning opportunities in museums and galleries

Volunteering is a good way to acquire experience of working in museums and galleries. You can make a contribution to the venues, and often help keep smaller museums open, meet new people, and improve your chances of getting paid employment in the sector. The larger institutions often have structured programmes for volunteers while the smaller museums function in a more ad-hoc manner but can sometimes give you more scope.

Unless otherwise stated you should send a CV and covering letter to the named contact. Information on writing a CV is available here and you can also contact Birkbeck Employment services for additional help.
