Helen Omand

Helen is an art psychotherapist who works in an open studio for adults with mental health difficulties, and as an artist practitioner and filmmaker in arts in health and community arts.

Her own art practice runs alongside her clinical practice as a therapist.  Her recent work is an intuitive response to a growing awareness of unconscious processes within the individual and society, and uses drawing, ceramics and video.  She also works with a collective of art therapists who research the relationship between training and working as an art psychotherapist and individual artistic practice, which has resulted in exhibitions including Art and Art Psychotherapy at NoFormat gallery, London in 2013.

Helen's work has included projects for Rowan Arts, the Science Museum, Creative Partnerships, Headliners, Art4Space, Studio3 Arts and Vital Regeneration. She has been a visiting tutor on the Goldsmiths MA and foundation art therapy courses.
