Curatorial Research Scholarship

The School of Arts is seeking proposals for a doctoral scholarship in the field of curating and curatorial studies.

The School of Arts is seeking proposals for a doctoral scholarship in the field of curating and curatorial studies. Curatorial studies sits at the intersection of a number of areas that are central to Birkbeck’s research culture, namely:

  • museum studies,
  • art history/exhibition studies,
  • public history and engagement,
  • archival studies,
  • cultural policy,
  • critical studies,
  • socially engaged practice.

Proposals should relate to at least two of these areas of interest and demonstrate an understanding of the particular contribution that a curatorial approach would make to the fields identified. Both practice-led and thesis-based proposals are welcomed.

Further details of the studentship, eligibility, funding and application process can be found on the School's research pages.
