Nigerian-born Oliver has had a connection with Birkbeck since 2002, and it's a link he doesn't want to break: he is hoping to progress from his MSc in Microbiology to do a PhD.
'Achieving such a high level of education while working to support my family would not be possible without Birkbeck. I had great encouragement from my tutors, and I received vital financial support from the College Hardship Fund, which I could not have managed without.'Oliver, who has three young children - the youngest just three months - comments: 'Balancing my home, work and study was difficult at times and I was lucky to have such good support from my wife.
