'I work in the government strategy unit of a management consultancy and chose Birkbeck so that I could do an MSc in the evenings and work at the same time.

'It also meant that I was working practically in the political arena by day, and by night I was able to supplement my knowledge to support my work and secure my long-term prospects in the field.

The research reputation of the Department of Politics is reflected in the high quality of teaching delivered by the professors and lecturers. The tutors were brilliant and really supportive to ensure that everyone succeeded. It's a very dynamic learning environment to be immersed in.'
